Coffee Academy is a learning platform and University credits are not currently offered. This program will allow participants to earn Achievements to strengthen competitiveness by significantly improving or mastering competencies in spirits education.

Yes! This certificate of completion course can be completed online, with optional in person certifications by Lavazza U.S.A.

This course lays out the foundational aspects of coffee production and beverage execution for everyone, aficionados and beginners alike. By partnering with Lavazza USA, one of the world’s largest privately held coffee companies, FIU’s Chaplin School collaborated on these courses with true industry experts.

The Coffee Academy focuses on foundational knowledge needed to understand the coffee business, production, and execution. We provide a base to many career paths within hospitality through a modern self-guided digital certificate of completion program that qualifies attendees for select in person certifications by Lavazza USA in select cities.

The Coffee Academy provides education and a certificate of completion recognized by Lavazza USA and FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. It is up to individual businesses to certify as a working coffee professional.​

Learners go through the key building blocks of basic coffee knowledge. The team from Lavazza USA collaborated with top ranked University, FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management to create a program for today’s needs. Assessments must be passed after each section and upon completion the certificate of completion is awarded.

You do not! The Coffee Academy is available to anyone looking to increase their understanding of the vast world of Coffee, from cherry to cup!

100% of enrollment fees go toward helping students gain access to experiential hospitality education at FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. If we can support you, please reach out to coffee.academy@fiu.edu.

The coffee industry can be intimidating, whether you are a new hire, someone looking for a role promotion, or just wanting to learn more about what is in your cup of coffee. We provide foundational and functional knowledge that can be utilized on anyone’s training journey. Individual coffee companies educate based on their own systems and house rules, but this program covers the foundations of which you can build from.

The Coffee Academy is open to all individuals 18 years old and older interested in the hospitality industry.
